sketchbook

When I stepped out of the non-profit sector at the end of 2019, I had a vision of diving deep into my studio practice only to realize I had no idea where to start since I hadn’t given my brain the time to sit in itself. It was super uncomfortable. So, I bought a hard-bound 8.5x11 sketchbook and some of my favorite gouache colors and started painting daily. The lines I was making calmed my brain from the outside forces of a global pandemic and the decline of my dad. To paint without a purpose of a finished piece was freeing and allowed me to explore color, line, shape, and spontaneity in a way I never have. Some of my pages are works in themselves and others are explorations. They are all a story of my brain on a given day.
